John Connors’ passion for art started at a very early age. Arriving in Frederick in 1993, Connors was immediately captivated by its charm and charisma, and is fascinated by the images of contemporary life in the midst of a very historic setting. Very reminiscent of the old European towns he had visited, Connors set about capturing these scenes in oil and watercolor. Inspired by the Impressionist Movement (1860-1890), with its "bias to paint cheerful reality—that of leisure and beauty of nature—and an endless search for natural light," he expresses these feelings in his art. In classic Impressionist style, Connors suggests the details of a scene through brushstrokes of color, which softly fuse subjects with their surroundings.
An award-winning fine arts and graphic arts artist, the native of Pittsburgh, PA, received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Cleveland Institute of Art. He is associated and also lends his expertise to many arts organizations in Frederick, including The Delaplaine Visual Arts and Education Center, The Frederick County Art Association, The Frederick Arts Council Gala, The City of Frederick Public Art Commission and the Greater Frederick Advertising Federation’s Another Side art auction, which raises scholarship funds for communication arts students.
