I have been teaching art at Frederick High School for 21 years. My work is strongly influenced by the subject I teach, the students I work with, my surroundings and the technological advances in computer generated imagery that have occurred within the last decade. I have taught myself how to manipulate my medium in response to the subjects that I encounter as I walk through Frederick with my students. I find that as I push myself to create compelling photographs, my students respond in kind by pushing the limits of traditional photography while exploring the seemingly limitless possibilities presented through the digital format. This series of photographs, taken over the course of two years, was created using camera RAW format in conjunction with a tone-mapping programs and Photoshop. The combination of these techniques has led to the sharpness, color, depth and illusion that appear in each piece. Each work reveals the richness inherent in the vibrant downtown of Frederick.
