Noah McWilliams is a self taught artist and long time Frederick resident. He works in a wide range of media but primarily focuses on large format screen printing. He learned to screen print as a teenager when he began working at local t-shirt shops. As a colorblind artist, the methodical nature of screen printing allowed him to explore his heightened awareness of value, texture, and form, while experimenting with color in a controlled environment. His recent work uses the screen printing process to meticulously piece together large reproductions of small fable illustrations. This process highlights the tension presented in the fable’s subject matter and echoed in the course texture of pencil on paper. His work has been shown in numerous venues around town including solo shows at The Blue Elephant Art Center and Café Nola.
