Sydney Hopkins is a Maryland native, born in Baltimore. She has lived in Massachusetts, California, New York City, and Mexico before returning to Maryland in the mid 80’s. As a fine art painter her artwork is abstract, primarily inspired by the European abstract artists and the American landscape painters of the late 19th and early 20th century. She is influenced as well by the design aesthetics of the 50’s and 60’s. Also a muralist and decorative artist for many years, she works for interior designers as well as building and restoration contractors, on numerous commercial and residential projects. She keeps a studio in the Woodberry neighborhood, and shares her home in Sparks, MD with her long time companion and husband, Yaro Soltis.
