Paula Rubin-Wexler was born and raised in New York City, where, at a very early age, she was immersed in the art and culture that the city had to offer. She fell in love with the work of the Impressionists, and soon afterward, many of the Contemporary artists. Paula later came to Washington, DC, where she enjoyed a successful career in advertising, opening her own agency, and producing award-winning campaigns for regional and national accounts, including Fortune 500 clients.
Calm, peaceful and serene are the feelings people have ascribed to her plein air paintings. While she approaches her subjects with excitement and enthusiasm, the moment she picks up her brush, rather than just recreating the scene before her, Paula responds to the essence of the moment, leaving the viewer with a sense of abstract, yet evocative, tranquility.
After moving west to Braddock Heights, Maryland, a historic mountain village with picturesque views that continue to inspire her, her work has been notably described as having a compelling simplicity. Paula has turned to her true calling––becoming the artist she always wanted to be.
